Rwandan jailed for genocide

DAR ES SALAAM (Tanzania) - A FORMER administrator accused of transporting soldiers to kill thousands of people during Rwanda's 1994 genocide received a 25-year sentence on Tuesday, a UN court said.

The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) in Arusha, Tanzania, found Dominique Ntawukulilyayo, 68, guilty of genocide.

'The Trial Chamber ... convicted Dominique Ntawukulilyayo, sub-prefect of Gisagara sub-prefecture in Butare, of genocide and sentenced him to 25 years of imprisonment,' the tribunal said on its website.

Ntawukulilyayo, who was the deputy administrator of Rwanda's southern Gisagara district, was acquitted of other charges of complicity in genocide and direct and public incitement to commit genocide.

He was arrested in France in October 2007 and transferred to the UN detention facility in the northern Tanzanian town of Arusha a year later.

In their indictment, prosecutors said Ntawukulilyayo transported soldiers to a hill where thousands of refugee Tutsis had gathered after he promised to feed and protect them. -- REUTERS

This article appeal to me because I can't believe that his sentence is so light. Genocide of 68 people and jailed for 25 years? Then what about the family of the 68 people that got killed? What do they get in return? Only sadness and anger while Rwandan sits in the jail enjoying food and not even worrying about any avenger. I am sure that anyone who reads this news will feel as angry as me right now. If I am the judge, I will sentence him to a life long jail and given 1 stroke of whip per month. I'll make sure he suffers and I will also make sure he won't die before he died of old age.

Fifth topic - Scammed and scorched

This article is about a china women getting scammed by some agents to singapore ILLEGALLY. They were told that there is a very high chance to get a job in singapore and that singapore is a pot of gold. The woman, from china, knew that there would be risk to it but seeing how hard her family life are and that she have 2 younger brother studying, she decided to take on the risk. When she reached singapore, shocked, she was led to a place in Geylang where there are prostitutes and hostess. She immediately knew what is happening but she was shocked as the place is worst than what she expected.
Now she needs to pay the debts owed by her family for sending her here and also nearly 6,000 dollars to be sent to grooming for premature ending contract. As she works, she encounters problems sometimes too. She has to entertain all sorts of customers. Sometimes, customers would invite her to hotel and suddenly become violent against her. Other times, after having sex, the customer would not pay and just walk away, when she try to push the customer to pay, they will threatening her into reporting to police. There is nothing she can do as she is an illegal immigrant.
This article actually changed my views on the Geylang. I always think that the prostitute in Geylang are all very willing but this article showed me something that is much more tragic.

Teen's abuse of girl
Ok, this article is all about a enraged teen attacking a girl dressed in a singlap secondary school uniform. The whole incident was recorded down into a video which lasted about 1 and a 1/2 minute and posted online. Basically, this teen and the girl in an elevator, the teen accused the girl of betraying him and telling the teacher about his misdeed. The girl denied but the enraged teen turned violent and started attacking her. He pushed her head against the wall and slap her several times. Around halfway through the video, the lift door opened and the teen turned around and pressed a button to close it. The girl tried to reach for the button to open the door again, he got angry and shouted at her, before pushing her head against the lift wall and, again, raining a series of slaps on her. Later, he grabbed her hair and with both hands, shoving her head from left to right, causing her hair, which was tied up in a ponytail, to come loose. He finally grabbed her hair again with one hand, and pulled her head back, before slapping her two more times and walking out of the lift in a huff, strutting past four other bots standing outside. The camera followed and showed him walking towards the next block and the video ended.
I chose this article because it is really rare of such things to be posted online. At first when I saw this article, I was really taken aback. At that moment, I was thinking, why was it posted online? Who took the video? It couldn't be the CCTV because the angle and the views are so different. Well, my comment on the article is, I can't believe that such thing happened. At least the continuation of the article said that the police is investigating the matter. This somehow gave us some safety feelings yet I have to say that such acts are not considered as 'honor' hence, such things are not to be posted online.

Son hurts mother again

'I had, in fact, wanted to commit a murder. I was near to killing her,' he said, adding that he bore a grudge against his mother.
The unrepentant Koh Kim Swee hurt her again two months ago. He slashed his 49-year-old mother's forehead with a 19cm-long knife along the common corridor outside their flat at Jurong East Street 21 on March 18 - over a trivial matter.

TWO years ago, Koh Kim Swee, now 23, hit his mother on the head with a hammer and was jailed 15 months.

The unrepentant son hurt her again two months ago. He slashed his 49-year-old mother's forehead with a 19cm-long knife along the common corridor outside their flat at Jurong East Street 21 on March 18 - over a trivial matter.

On Thursday, he was jailed 30 months and ordered to be caned six strokes after he admitted to the charge earlier this week.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Prem Raj told Community Court Judge May Mesenas that Koh confronted his mother who was then mopping the floor of the living room and demanded why she had washed his cup. When she denied this, he scolded her repeatedly and insisted that she had washed his cup when he had ordered her not to.

Koh became increasingly agitated and aggressive and started to shout at his mother. Madam Lee then decided to leave for her own safety as she knew from past encounters that he would do something to harm her. Just as she was stepping out of the corridor, Koh, who was wielding a knife in his right hand, slashed her on the left side of her head.

When he tried to slash her again, she managed to stop him by holding on to the blade of the knife, injuring her left hand and arm. Her screams alerted her neighbours. Madam Lee ran to the lift lobby and sought the help of her neighbours on the first floor. She was treated in hospital for cuts and her head and left arm.

Well, this article interested me. I picked this article because I can't believe that the son actually did that! My views on this article, I mean the son is that he is just too cruel, after all, that is his mother. If I can ask questions, I'll ask the judge what will he do if it happens that his son, after being released from jail which is only around 30 month, come out and attacked his mother again? If I am the judge, no need to negotiate, just jail for life.

Sex with boy: Maid charged

BARELY five months after she began working for the family, a domestic worker allegedly had sex with her employer's 11-year-old son.

The 27-year-old Indonesian is said to have caused the underage boy to willingly have sex with her at the family's home in the east, sometime at the end of June last year.

The pair allegedly had sex again in mid-December, after he had turned 12.

The maid is also accused of having the boy perform oral sex on her on Dec 25 last year.

The fourth charge, under the Children and Young Persons Act (CYPA), accuses her of committing an obscene act with a child, by engaging in sexual intercourse and oral sex between end-June and Dec 25.

She is believed to be the third woman here to be charged in relation to sexual penetration with a minor under 16.

I just have to take this article because what the maid did really is unbelievable. My views on it are, firstly, disgusted by the act, second, oh poor little boy... and lastly, being the third woman huh...this proof how bad the maid training service are.
If I am to be the judge, I'll make sure that the maid receive a harsh punishment, compensate the victim $30,000 and jailed 2 years doing Corrective Work Order.

Casino cheat gets jail
He had posed as brother to enter casino and tried to cheat at a game

HE HAD been sentenced to a life term in prison for wielding a firearm during a robbery and was an undischarged bankrupt, but former cabby Loo Siew Wan never left his life of crime behind.

Last September, he was fined $1,000 for gaming in public.

That did not deter him either.

When Singapore's first casino opened in February, Loo gave in to temptation again.

Though he had been barred from the casino, Loo posed as his elder brother, Siow Kok, for a roll of the dice at the gaming tables on Feb 21.

The next day, he continued to use his brother's driving licence - which he had stolen - to enter the gaming floor again.

This article appeals to me because of how people can get so attracted to casino. If I am the judge, I would definitely punish him severely like fining him $10,000 and jailed 6 month.
